Job Description

The Mechanic/ Ground Hand is to assist in daily operations and maintain plant performance. He/She will monitor the processing plant and provide appropriate level of repair. He/She will help with all daily operational tasks including, but not limited to: maintenance, repairs, screen changes, plant setup and configurations, fueling, services, parts organization, cleanup, and preventive modifications needed to ensure a productive operation exists. Shifts will be days and nights; on a rotational shift when available. Remote locations and adverse conditions and inclement weather could be factors during operations and maintenance. A positive team dynamic and chemistry is crucial.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Safety

Ensure adherence to Hadean’s workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.

Maintain a high level of Health and Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring and revision of standard work procedures.

Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace.

Attend and participation in all scheduled health and safety meetings and training.

Environment

Ensure adherence to Hadean’s environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements.

Integrate environmental policies, programs, and practices into all activities of the organization.

Maintain environmental awareness amongst workforce by holding meetings and actively participate in planned environmental programs and drills.

Production

Assist in maintaining operations to ensure consistent plant utilization and plant performance while promoting a safe work culture.

Perform regular inspections of all plant areas to ensure best operating practices are being followed.

Diagnose plant operating deficiencies and bring resolution to processing issues.

Perform routine inspection of plant equipment and auxiliaries to ensure safe operating condition and effectiveness.

Diagnose equipment operating defects focusing on identifying root cause and coordinate maintenance works with fixed maintenance team.

Monitor and oversee clean stockpile practices are followed.

Maintain clean out areas with required equipment.

Report on shift activities and performance indicators to the on-site supervisor on daily basis.

Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Mechanic/ Ground Hand application.

Knowledge of Jaw and cone crushers.

Understanding of crushing and screening.

Understanding of products and or specifications

Experience with conveying systems.

Proven ability to self  motivate, while working safely and striving for operational targets.

Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office software, Google sheets, & Apple products.

All previously obtained certificates and documentation should be included with your resume.

(for example, but not limited to: first aid, WHIMIS, or TDG certifications; previously obtained industry/ position specific training certificates, etc…)

Work Environments/Conditions

This position requires individual to be on site at all times during shift. He/she must be physically fit and have the ability to work extended hours. Some requirements for this position include: Lifting, climbing stairs, working around mechanical equipment, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

 

Work Location / Travel

Hadean is a mobile crushing operation that is required to travel into and from various locations.

These locations will be determined by allocated contracts and potential client needs. Depending on locations and time lines, accommodations may or may not be provided. This will be offset by a varying live out allowance. Travelling in and out of site will be employee’s responsibility, and on site transportation will be provided. In the case of extreme remote locations to and from will be compensated.
